Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- President Danilo Medina on Friday headed groundbreaking for construction in Uvero Alto (east) of the Majestic Mirage Hotel, a five star resort to be built at a cost of US$125 million.
Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia said the project, which in his view confirms that Dominican tourism is undergoing its best era, thanks to Medina´s efforts.
He stressed that as the result of such investments, tourism grew in 20% September and it headed toward the same figure in October.
The official said Medina instructed him not to stop any investment that comes to the country, which caused a “rain of investment.”
For Batle Group CEO Santiago Batle, the complex will be a benchmark, adding that the hotel to be built on around 85,000 square meters will open late 2016, with 516 rooms (405 suites and 112 junior suites).
